Diâmetro das Rodas
Diz-nos a ciência matemática, que o diâmetro de uma circunferência (neste caso, a roda), é dado por qualquer corda que passe pelo centro da mesma e que é como é evidente, sempe o meso. Todos os valores em baixo representados, são expressos em metros e são para rodas novas, ou seja, quando o material circulante é entregue em estado novo. Com o seu uso no dia-a-dia, as rodas livres, motoras, em bogies ou em eixos estão sujeitas a desgaste, havendo um valor mínimo aceitável que não consta assim nesta listagem. As rodas frenadas com disco sofrem menos desgaste que aquelas que são frenadas em sistema mais antigo, em que a mesma frenagem é feita com cepos que encostam à roda, provocando atrito e desgaste continuado, sendo os cepos sintéticos a melhor solução para atenuar estes danos.
